Hello guys what is up...
Today is Friday and you may expect a Funny Friday, but Last Friday was the last Funny Friday. Maybe in the future I will upload some more Funny Fridays but for now it's over...
Instead of a Funny Friday I gonna show you how to fix the APT segmentation fault. this error could when you try to run the apt-get update command in kalilinux 2.0. To fix this we need to re-configure our sources.list file (located in /etc/apt)
to edit the file we need to run sudo nano (or whatever editor you want) /etc/apt/sources.list
you will see something like this:
# # deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 2.0 _Sana_ - Official Snapshot i368 LIVE/INSTALL Binary 20150811-08:02]/ sana contrib main non-free #deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 2.0 _Sana_ - Official Snapshot i368 LIVE/INSTALL Binary 20150811-08:02]/ sana contrib main non-free # Line commented out by installer because it failed to verify: #deb http://security.kali.org/kali-security/ sana/updates main contrib non-free # Line commented out by installer because it failed to verify: #deb-src http://security.kali.org/kali-security/ sana/updates main contrib non-free
or
# # deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 2.0 _Sana_ - Official Snapshot amd64 LIVE/INSTALL Binary 20150811-08:02]/ sana contrib main non-free #deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 2.0 _Sana_ - Official Snapshot amd64 LIVE/INSTALL Binary 20150811-08:02]/ sana contrib main non-free # Line commented out by installer because it failed to verify: #deb http://security.kali.org/kali-security/ sana/updates main contrib non-free # Line commented out by installer because it failed to verify: #deb-src http://security.kali.org/kali-security/ sana/updates main contrib non-free
(depending on you'r using 32 or 64 bit)
okay press ^K (ctrl+K) a few times and paste this lines:
# Regular repositories deb http://http.kali.org/kali sana main non-free contrib deb http://security.kali.org/kali-security sana/updates main contrib non-free # Source repositories deb-src http://http.kali.org/kali sana main non-free contrib deb-src http://security.kali.org/kali-security sana/updates main contrib non-free
then run the apt-get update command again and it's working.
for those who don't exactly know what the sources.list file is and what it does here is the MAN description of it (man sources.list):

for those who don't exactly know what the sources.list file is and what it does here is the MAN description of it (man sources.list):
NAME
sources.list - List of configured APT data sources
DESCRIPTION
The source list /etc/apt/sources.list is designed to support any number
of active sources and a variety of source media. The file lists one
source per line, with the most preferred source listed first. The
information available from the configured sources is acquired by
apt-get update (or by an equivalent command from another APT
front-end).
Each line specifying a source starts with type (e.g. deb-src) followed
by options and arguments for this type. Individual entries cannot be
continued onto a following line. Empty lines are ignored, and a #
character anywhere on a line marks the remainder of that line as a
comment.
Okay that was it for today guys :)
